Hello friends,

I arrived in Hamburg. I took the opportunity to practrice a while with Agustin Calleri’s coach. The court is not as slow as I hoped, but it’s raining a lot here and it’s cold, so of course, it could have been much slower.

I play against Paul-Henri Mathieu, who comes from the qualies and defeated Olivier Rochus in the first round. He won the two last matches we played, but these matches were bad for me. Now, I feel far better and I hope that the result will be different.

I can tell you that we already have the team to compete in Dusseldorf. Nico Massu could be exempted of the tournament he was supposed to play, I can tell you that the third player of our team will be Julio Peralta, who was retired but now he is back. He is a good player. Yesterday, I was in the stadium where I watched the match Massu/Safin.

One never can be happy after losing a final, but in Rome, I recovered a great part of the level that I hadn’t been able to reach in the previous weeks. That is the good thing of tennis, that one good week helps you to fix a lot of things.

Tennis can be improved from a week to another, so I’m happy and optimistic. Three tough weeks are coming up : Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Roland-Garros.

Hugs to everyone, from Fernando

[From the webmaster : Peralta is 25 years old, retired in 2004 due to many injuries, and now he tries to come back]
