Hello my friends,
I won my first match in the US OPEN but it wasn’t easy. On tuesday, we couldn’t play due to the rain and on monday, we only trained a little bit. They called me to warm up on the wet court and it was so fast at the beginning that I sent the ball outside the court.
Gradually, I was accustomed and started to feel fast, the shots entered and the best is that the shots which cost me before, today, are now a strengh.
Larry (Stefanki) watched my rival in the second round, who is the other Czech I didn’t know. It’s a disadvantage to not know its rival, but in a 5 sets tournament, it’s more difficult that they surprise you. You have the time to recover. But, the truth is that Jan Hajek, I have never seen him, I don’t know who he is.
What I have improved with Larry is the net game, the return and the serve. The slice is no longer a weak. I feel that I have more resources and It’s an enormous tranquility.
Well, friends, a great hug and hopefully, the things will continue to go well. My goal is to arrive to the MAsters of Shanghai.
Fernando

Hello my friends,
Since wednesday, I’m in New-York,practicing very hard. I’m a little bit tired because the season has been long, but with good results. With Larry, we try to work a little bit more the volley, to give more variety to my game, to finish the points very fast and to let my opponents know that I don’t play only from the bottom. Do serve and volley has relaxed me.
I tell you that for the doubles, I’ll play with Mardy Fish. The idea is to have a partner who will end the points very fast, to not get too tired and to not affect my game in the singles. Mardy plays well with his serve and at the net, and he’s a great partner.
I arrive optimistic at this US OPEN. The latest results have been very good. The only thing is that I want to arrive as far as possible in this tournament and come back to Chile, because I have been two months away and what I most want is to spend the 18th of september at home.
See you
Fernando
